Job Opportunity: Medical Director for Cardiac, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Medical Director to oversee our Cardiac, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery (CVT) program within a leading hospital-based physician group located in Arlington, VA. This position merges clinical practice with leadership duties, focusing on the quality, expansion, and integration of the CVT service line.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership and Development: Guide, expand, and support the CVT team by ensuring adequate provider coverage, encouraging professional growth, and implementing initiatives that boost clinical productivity and performance.
• Community Engagement: Enhance the visibility and outreach of the Cardiovascular Surgery Program through educational initiatives and the establishment of a regionally integrated Cardiac Care network.
• Quality Assurance: Maintain clinical excellence in quality and patient safety by managing updates to policies and procedures, coordinating care, conducting regular performance evaluations, and identifying areas for ongoing improvement.
• Financial Sustainability: Advocate for cost-effective practices that benefit patients, staff, and the overall health system across the office, CVICU, and CV Stepdown Unit to ensure the financial health of the CVT program.
• Strategic Collaboration: Work alongside administrative and business development teams to facilitate the strategic growth of cardiovascular services, including the introduction of new facilities and service lines that align with our organization's mission and long-term goals.
• Strategic Planning: Engage in strategic planning and assist in physician recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

• MD or DO; Board Certified in Cardiothoracic or Vascular Surgery.
• Eligibility for licensure in Virginia.
• Preferred 5+ years of experience post-training.
• Demonstrated leadership in clinical or programmatic roles.
• Experience with EPIC is preferred.
