Job Overview

This role involves responsibilities that do not include direct patient care, focusing instead on tasks such as general cleaning and the processing of ventilators and other equipment utilized by the department. Additional responsibilities encompass stocking supplies, monitoring and analyzing the usage of medical gases, inspecting medical gas outlets as instructed, and performing various other assigned tasks.

• Conducts cleaning and processing of instruments between procedures in accordance with established protocols, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
• Disassembles and reassembles departmental equipment, performing necessary function checks on related equipment. Cleans equipment and parts following set guidelines.
• Collects and delivers instruments and supplies to and from the Sterile Processing Department stock area and/or Material Management.
• Monitors and maintains inventory levels of supplies, including sterile and disposable items, across designated areas within the facility, such as the Operating Room, Labor & Delivery, MedSTAR, and the Emergency Room. Replenishes depleted stock to maintain par levels and places orders as needed.

• A High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Enrollment in a COARC-approved Respiratory Therapy program is necessary, either through a Vocational/Technical Diploma or an Associate’s degree.
• One year of relevant educational experience may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

• Preferred: Less than one year of clinical rotation experience in Respiratory Therapy within an acute care hospital.

• CPR certification (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation, including BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross is required within 90 days of hire. Additional unit or specialty certifications may vary by department.

The salary range for this position is between USD $18.70 and USD $32.72 per hour.
