Team Touchstone Assistant Coach- Berkeley Ironworks

Touchstone Climbing owns and operates 17 climbing gyms across California. All coaching shifts occur between 3:45 PM and 7:30 PM. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next generation of climbers in a supportive and engaging environment. The job starts ASAP. Key Responsibilities Coach the Dev Team and/or Camp and Club, focusing on bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing. Teach and reinforce climbing techniques such as footwork, body positioning, movement efficiency, and route reading. Develop and lead strength training programs tailored to the needs of youth climbers, emphasizing injury prevention and appropriate strength gains. Create an enjoyable and engaging learning environment for kids of various ability levels and learning styles. Collaborate with other coaches to design and implement high-quality training programs for Team Touchstone. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes growth, learning, and a love for climbing. Qualifications Climbing Experience: Proficient in bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing with a solid understanding of climbing fundamentals. Coaching Skills: Ability to explain climbing techniques clearly and effectively to youth athletes. Passion for Youth Development: Patient, enthusiastic, and capable of working with kids of different ages and skill levels. Creative Instruction: Innovative in creating fun, engaging, and effective coaching sessions. Collaboration: Excited to work as part of a team to provide an exceptional experience for our climbers. Availability: Must be available to coach on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Preferred Qualifications Competition Climbing Experience: Experience in competitive climbing is desirable, but not required. Compensation Starting pay is $20 an hour for Club and Camp roles and $21.50 an hour when coaching at the Comp Team level.
