Central Sterile Technician

This is a 13-week contract position.

5x8 Evening shifts, from 15:00 to 23:30.

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment in a healthcare facility. This role requires adherence to safety and infection control protocols while ensuring the availability of sterile instruments for surgeries and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Process and maintain sterilization of surgical instruments using steam sterilizers and low-temperature sterilization techniques.
• Utilize washers, disinfectors, and cart washers for the effective reprocessing of instruments.
• Follow aseptic techniques and standard operating procedures for decontamination and sterilization.
• Perform routine maintenance and quality checks on sterilization equipment.
• Label and package instruments according to established protocols.
• Floating to other units and assisting as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• 2 years of experience in a Central Sterile role.
• Experience in Trauma Level I and II settings is required.
• Current certification as a Central Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD) and valid IAHCSMM/HSPA certification.
• BLS certification is required.
• Must have an active MD or Compact License at the time of submission.
