Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry (Hourly) - Blaisdell ATC

All Hourly positions with the NYS Office of Addiction Services & Supports (OASAS) are on an “as needed” basis, and as such there is no guarantee of work hours or a set schedule. Responsibilities Review referral agency reports, document medical histories, and perform psychiatric evaluations and documentation; provide infirmary-type care (e.g., examine patients, order, and render treatment as necessary and follow up as required). Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order medications and procedures. Authorize admissions and render admitting diagnoses. Assist in patient discharge planning, especially regarding health care needs. Provide individual and group health education and risk reduction counseling. Participate in a multidisciplinary team, serve as health adviser at Treatment Team meetings, and assist in patient care and facility operations. Serve as a health advisor to a multidisciplinary team. Participate in activities intended to improve patient care and facility operations. Proficient use of a computer is required for record keeping and documentation. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned; complete other tasks to meet ATC needs. NOTE: The ATC uses a computerized patient record system. Qualifications Certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry or Family Health by the New York State Education Department. Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and/or Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in termination of employment. Background Investigation Requirements Prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Employees whose names appear on the SEL for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. They may also be removed from eligibility lists for the title(s) if applicable. Prospective employees will undergo a Criminal Background Check (CBC) that includes state and federal criminal history record checks. All convictions must be reported; a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Employees will be fingerprinted to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. Prospective employees may be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Employees indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
