Lead Direct Support Professional

Position acts as a Lead Day Support Activities Direct Support Professional in the absence of the Supervisor for Sunrise Enterprises of Roseburg, Inc., a private non-profit Corporation that provides employment and community inclusion services for adults with disabilities. This position is responsible for assisting in the training, supervision, and motivation of participants and staff to meet their daily goals, engage at or above their established levels and assist them in achieving their highest potential. This position is also responsible for the safety of participants and staff and ensuring their activities meet our quality standards. The Lead DSP also acts as a mentor for other DSPs and to inspire greatness. DETAILS Lead DSP/Day Support Activities $17.00 hr. Monday-Friday 7:30-3:30 Qualifications High School Diploma/GED, degree in related field preferred, two year’s experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred but not required (training is provided). At least 18 years of age. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Positive work ethics, including punctuality, dependability, task completion able to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks and relationships. Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products required. Must have proven, stable employment history. Strong organizational skills. Strong verbal, written, open, collaborative, and solutions-oriented communication and teamwork skills. Valid Oregon driver’s license and must be insurable by Sunrise insurance carrier. Proficiency with electronic documentation systems (e.g., SetWorks) preferred. Able to work with limited supervision, displaying initiative and creativity in the workplace. Must have ability and desire to relate to people with physical/mental disabilities with dignity and respect. Attention to detail, in order to create documents for reporting purposes. Must be able to pass criminal history checks and drug screen including THC. Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification. Must obtain OIS Certification and believe in its philosophy. Working Conditions/ Hours Typically, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday but may vary. Must be available (on call) after hours. Overtime may be required. Available on call hours. Mostly indoors, exposure to dust, noise, and various weather conditions. Physical/Mental Requirements Must be physically able to assist program participants, including assisted lifting, transfer, and hygiene/personal care if needed. Walking, sitting, stooping, bending, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Driving and transporting participants and program participants. Ability to multitask and handle/diffuse tense situations. Reasonable accommodations will be made for a person with a disability under ADA. Essential Functions Assure a high quality of Sunrise Enterprises services are provided to our participants. Participate in transportation duties (transportation for participant activities and/or Meals on Wheels). Assist individuals with disabilities to acquire and develop those skills, behaviors, attitudes, and personal characteristics that will assist them to work, grow, and belong. Provide peri-care for all individuals as needed. Provide support and assistance to supervisor, other DSPs, Services Coordinators, participants, volunteers, and all other staff in the DSA programs. Complete required training within time limits (core competencies, DSP training, First Aid/CPR, etc.) Support Supervisor in tracking staff training requirements and deadlines. Assist in onboarding and mentoring new DSP staff. Provide real-time coaching and redirection to staff to maintain professional standards. Mentor other staff members on participants’ ISPs, goals, and outings. Collaborate with Supervisor in reviewing, adjusting, and approving DSA calendars. Ensure activities align with participant ISP goals, community integration standards, and program quality expectations. Assist in coordinating logistics including transportation, staffing ratios, and safety considerations. Ensure outings for participants are set up before their arrival. Research and help secure new community-based activities, volunteer opportunities, and enrichment partnerships. Maintain professional relationships with community partners to expand inclusive opportunities for participants. Assist in preventing program stagnation by identifying new skill-building and engagement options. Complete attendance sheets and timecards for participants. Perform duties and complete tasks as requested by supervisor in a reasonable amount of time. Attend required staff and safety meetings and training courses when scheduled. Maintain agency records in a professional manner consistent with prescribed guidelines and expectations. Participate in the development of ISPs with Employment Services (must come to agreement of ISP before presenting to ISP team). Submit all required paperwork to respective recipients per scheduled due dates (e.g., record training efforts, participant productivity, progress towards ISP goals, case notes, incident reports, etc.). Partner with Supervisor to ensure all DSA documentation (case notes, attendance, incident reports, ISP data, productivity records, etc.) is submitted accurately and timely by all staff. Review documentation for completeness and quality and assist staff in correcting deficiencies. Monitor documentation compliance and report patterns of concern to Supervisor. Keep relationships with participants professional and limited to work settings and supports. Notify your supervisor of any conflicts of interest due to preexisting relationships with participants. Report any incidents of negligence, abuse, emergencies, or problems to the appropriate agency, person, or supervisor per company policies and procedures. Do not exceed responsibility/authority delegated to you by supervisor. Is designated as department supervisor in absence of the supervisor. Assist program participants to work, grow and belong. Perform duties and complete tasks as requested by supervisor in a reasonable amount of time. Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, and committees. Do not exceed responsibility/authority delegated to you by supervisor. Exhibit good judgment in situations not specifically covered by agency policy or procedures. Keep work area in a clean, safe condition. Submit timesheets and other required documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Meet regular attendance requirements at assigned worksite because job requires face-to-face interaction with participants, customers, or other employees Keep relationships with participants professional and limited to work settings and supports. Notify your supervisor of any conflicts of interest due to preexisting relationships with participants. Report any type of abuse immediately to your supervisor or leadership.
