Director of Special Services

The Henry Hudson Regional School District is seeking an experienced Director of Student Services to provide visionary leadership in developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive program of special education and student support services across the district. The Director will maximize student potential in academic success, life skills, student advocacy, post‑secondary education, and career readiness while maintaining strict alignment with State and Federal guidelines. The position is available on or about 9/1/2026. Qualifications Holds a valid New Jersey Principal Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or School Administrator Certificate. Master's Degree from an approved institution of higher learning with academic training in the field of Special Education and/or allied fields of Special Services. At least five years of educational experience, with a strong background in Special Education and student support systems. Minimum of three years of successful leadership or supervisory experience in education preferred. Experience working with a Child Study Team (CST) is highly preferred. Experience overseeing Preschool programming and/or implementation of the Preschool Expansion Aid Grant is highly preferred. Comprehensive knowledge and evidence of strict compliance of current state and federal special education rules, regulations, and legal mandates, specifically NJAC 6A:14 Special Education Code. Strong understanding of inclusive special education practices, instructional strategies, and curriculum modifications for diverse learners. Demonstrated organizational, administrative, oral/written communication, and human relations skills. Proficiency with basic software applications for instruction and Student Information Systems, specifically Realtime. Successfully completes the required New Jersey State Criminal History Review Unit check (per N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1 et seq., N.J.S.A. 18A:39-17 et seq., N.J.S.A. 18A:6-4.13 et seq., and N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1) and provides proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. Such alternatives or additions to the above qualifications as the Board of Education and Superintendent find appropriate and acceptable. This is a FT position, (1.0), 5 days a week. Yearly starting salary range from $120,000.00 to $140,000.00 and single benefits (negotiable).
