Job Title: Field Engineer / Field Technician - open to entry level candidates!

Construction Materials & Geotechnical Testing

Overview

We are seeking a motivated Field Engineer / Field Technician to support construction materials testing, geotechnical inspections, and geothermal projects throughout New York City, Long Island, and surrounding areas. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for both experienced professionals and entry-level graduates who are eager to learn and grow in the construction and engineering industry.

In this role, you will work on active construction sites performing testing, inspections, and field documentation while collaborating with contractors, engineers, and project teams to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications.

Daily travel to job sites is required. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and in active construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform field testing of construction materials, including concrete slump, air content, and cylinder sampling
• Conduct soil density testing using nuclear gauge and sand cone methods
• Support geotechnical inspections for earthwork, foundations, and related construction activities
• Assist with geothermal drilling and loop installation monitoring
• Verify materials and installation methods meet project drawings and specifications
• Perform QA/QC inspections and report nonconforming work or materials
• Document field activities through detailed daily reports, including test results, logs, and photo documentation
• Communicate field observations, issues, and results to project teams in real time
• Coordinate with contractors, site supervisors, and engineers to support project execution
• Maintain accurate and organized records of field data and site observations

Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates with a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or a related field are encouraged to apply
• Internship or prior field experience in construction, materials testing, or geotechnical work is a plus
• Basic understanding of construction materials testing and QA/QC practices preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate field reports
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently in the field
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow within the role

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required for daily travel between job sites
• Ability to travel regularly throughout NYC, Long Island, and upstate New York
• NYC SST card (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions on active construction sites
• Strong time management and organizational skills

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $40.00/hr.

This is a hybrid position in Farmingdale,NY.
