Tax Intern
The Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture. Summary Why Intern with Simplot Tax: Work part-time in the school year and full time in the summer. Build your skill set and get real, relevant experience in tax and accounting. Key Responsibilities As a Tax intern in Simplot's Tax Department, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Preparing sales/use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions across the US. Compilation of information to support sales tax audits. Assisting with tax research and documenting findings. Monitor and record property tax bills and assessments using tax technology. Assist with income tax research and special projects. Assist international GST/PST filing.
Typical Education Must be pursuing a BA/BS or MS in Accounting or Tax. Must be a full-time student. Relevant Experience Successful candidates for this position will have: Strong software skills; specifically, with Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other MS Office applications. Excellent communications skills; both verbal and written. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 An interest in an indirect tax career Flexibility with the work schedule, particularly in the school year. It is preferred that the candidate be available for 6 months and be: Early Junior status within the undergraduate accounting program; or Early Senior status also committed to the Master of Tax graduate program.
