Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset including: Stroke experience Cardiac rhythm interpretation Tracheostomy care Peripheral IV starts Chest tube management Nasogastric tube placement Drain and tube management (e.g., Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion and management) Patient-controlled analgesia pump management Medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids Description: The position requires an RN for a MedSurg/Tele unit. The facility has 207 licensed beds and is not a teaching hospital. The unit will be an overflow Med/Tele area supporting all inpatient units and emergency department holding. Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chest pain workups, and respiratory issues. Patient ratios are RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with critical surge ratio of 1:7-8. Support within the department includes CNAs, receptionists, and charge nurses. Phlebotomy and IV/VAT team support is available on specified shifts. A hospitalist and intensivist are available 24/7 for additional support. The unit utilizes electronic medical records and various medical equipment. Travel between facilities within scope of practice may be required as needed. Weekend rotations are every other weekend, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved subject to contract conditions. The schedule cycle will be every 6 weeks. Scrub color required for this position is navy. This role may involve floating to other units within the region as necessary.
