About the Position

Job Title: RN Labor and Delivery Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP, FHM Must-Have: Level III Perinatal Care Experience, High-risk mothers/newborn care experience. Description: This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and Level III Perinatal Center. It is recognized as an Accreta Center of Excellence and an Advance Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility has 228 beds and averages 280 deliveries per month. The RN will provide care for high-risk mothers and newborns. Candidates should be knowledgeable in supporting placenta accreta, tubal ligation, cerclage, and hysterectomies. Nurses will assist as secondary nurses for C-section deliveries and circulate in vaginal deliveries. They will participate in surgical recovery and care for newborns, including those needing massive transfusions or experiencing pre-eclampsia. The patient ratios are 1:1-2 for active labor and 1:3 for antepartum. The facility follows AWHONN staffing guidelines. Required skills include fetal monitoring, maternal assessments, high-risk newborn care post-delivery, cervical exams for labor progression, OB triage, and assisting with procedures. RN duties also involve managing postpartum care and L&D recoveries. The facility has a supportive team structure, including charge nurses, clinical resource nurses, and certified nurse midwives present 24/7. Client residents, family practice docs, and midwives are available for collaboration. Charting is done using an electronic system. The unit uses various equipment for fetal monitoring and epidural administration. Travelers will be required to float to other assigned units based on need. Every effort will be made to accommodate scheduling requests, including working every other weekend and holidays. The facility provides designated areas for staff.
