Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Center Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP, FHM Must-Have: - Level III Perinatal Care Experience - Experience providing care for high-risk mothers and newborns - Knowledgeable in placenta accreta, tubal ligation, cerclage, hysterectomies - Ability to assist as a secondary nurse for C-section deliveries - Skills in circulating during vaginal deliveries - Experience in surgical recovery, care for newborns, massive transfusions, pre-eclampsia, and COVID-19 Description: This role involves working in a high-volume labor and delivery setting. The facility experiences an average of 280 deliveries per month. Patient ratios are 1:1-2 for active labor and 1:3 for antepartum. Fetal monitoring and maternal assessments are critical skills required for this position. Registered Nurses will be responsible for high-risk newborns and mothers post-delivery. Cervical exams for labor progression and OB triage will be part of the role. Assistance with procedures, postpartum care, and labor and delivery recoveries is expected. The Registered Nurse will assist in circulating during C-section procedures and serve as the primary nurse for vaginal deliveries. The unit supports a collaborative work environment with charge nurses and clinical resource nurses. Phlebotomy services are shared with RNs for lab draws. Respiratory therapy, house supervisors, and certified nurse midwives provide support. The workforce includes Client providers and onsite OB anesthesia available 24/7. The facility functions as a teaching hospital that trains Client residents and family practice doctors. Charting systems used include EPIC and Alaris. Travelers may float to postpartum women’s care as needed. Regular availability for scheduling is required, including weekends and holidays. This is a non-fixed scheduling environment, and RTO will be coordinated with management.
