Doctoral Degree Civilian Certified Athletic Trainer to oversee Air Force Trainee Program!

To oversee the Athletic Training Program for new Air Force members, under direction of the Sports Medicine Officer. Work closely with Senior Athletic Trainers to ensure the Sports Medicine Hub and Staff ATs are operating effectively, and within the scope and operational plan of the Athletic Training Program.

Schedule Details:

• No Federal Holidays
• Normal hours of operation will be nine (9) hours in length including a one (1) hour lunch

break, Monday through Friday.

Sign-on Bonus   Details

• $1,250 after 30 days of employment
• $1,250 upon the employee's one-year anniversary

Responsibilities

• Ensure referrals are accurately and efficiently filtered from ATFs; ensure standard operating procedures and referral guidelines are followed.
• Assist in developing, presenting and implementing CPI initiatives with the goal of improving patient care in support of the training mission.
• Work congruently with Sports Medicine OIC, sports medicine physician(s), and 559 THLS leadership to ensure clinical care objectives are met; keeping patient safety, access to care, quality of care, and trusted care at the highest level of priority. Responsible for the oversight and management of infection control, patient safety, privacy, and other administrative matters in the ATFs.
• Collaborate with sports medicine providers, and other medical experts to execute research initiatives; prospective and/or retrospective studies should be pursued in accordance with Institutional Review Board process. Ensure findings are shared with Department of Defense, recruit and cadet initial entry and technical training sites. Pursue peer-reviewed publication in a professional journal; goal one article per year. Observe and become familiar with the training that occurs in the squadron to which they are assigned. In doing so, the HCW shall also become acquainted with military training instructors (MTIs) and training leadership, and communicate regularly with these personnel regarding matters related to human performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation plans for specific patients, as indicated and appropriate, respecting all Privacy Act (PA) and Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act (HIPAA)

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree:

Ten (10) or more years of experience in diagnosing, treating, and/or preventing musculoskeletal injuries as a certified athletic trainer (after graduation) in a high school, college, professional sports, or military training setting is required.

• Three (3) or more years of experience overseeing a sports medicine or athletic training program is required.
• All athletic trainer(regardless of position) shall be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association

Board of Certification (NATABOC). Must maintain current certification with the NATABOC throughout the period of their employment.

• Basic Life Support
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted AT license.
