Job Title

RN – Step Down (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Contract | Days | 3 x 12-hour shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care on a heavily cardiac-focused PCU/Step Down unit, managing complex patient populations including heart failure, A-Fib, VTach, VFib, STEMI/NSTEMI, LVAD patients, and heart transplant patients
• Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring; must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers — no remediation opportunities and no tech assistance permitted
• Administer and manage common cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Perform and assist with procedures such as sheath removal/management, TR band management, groin site management, chest tube care, and post-procedure monitoring for catheterizations, cardioversions, pacemakers, ICDs, and ablations
• Manage frequent admissions and discharges in a high-volume procedural environment with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
• Float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed; travelers are not eligible for the Cardiac Monitor Tech float role

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of Georgia or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac drips (insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin) and telemetry interpretation
• Must achieve a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
• Chest tube experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Heart transplant nursing experience (training may be available)
• LVAD experience (training may be available)
• Familiarity with congenital heart disease patient populations
• Prior experience with valve replacement procedures and STEMI/NSTEMI care pathways
