Job Title

RN – Step Down (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3 × 12-hour shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care on a cardiac-focused PCU/Step Down unit, managing a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
• Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring; must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers — no remediation opportunities
• Administer and titrate common cardiac drips including Insulin, Milrinone, Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Nitroglycerin
• Care for complex cardiac patient populations including Heart Failure, A-Fib, VTach, VFib, STEMI/NSTEMI, Heart Transplant, and LVAD patients
• Assist with and provide post-procedural care for cardiac procedures including heart catheterizations, sheath removal, cardioversions, ablations, pacemakers, ICDs, and groin site management
• Float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed; travelers are not eligible to float into Cardiac Monitor Tech positions

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac drip administration and telemetry interpretation
• EPIC electronic health record experience required
• Chest tube experience required
• Must achieve a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
• Must pass a paper-based, proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt — no tech assistance or remediation permitted; use of calipers required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Heart transplant nursing experience (training may be available)
• LVAD patient management experience (training may be available)
• Prior experience in a high-acuity cardiac PCU or Step Down environment with significant procedural volume
