Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating, and executing cross‑functional projects across manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, quality, and government contracts. This role helps develop project scope, schedules, and communications, ensuring initiatives are delivered safely, on time, and within defined constraints while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations. This is a hands‑on role requiring regular presence on the production floor and close collaboration with functional leaders and operators. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Coordinate assigned operational, engineering, and process improvement projects from initiation through closeout. Assist with developing project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and action registers. Identify risks, constraints, and dependencies; proactively drive mitigation plans. Ensure project changes are documented and aligned with formal change control (e.g., ECOs, document control). Coordinate activities across Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Service. Facilitate project kick‑off meetings, regular updates, and close‑out reviews. Ensure roles, responsibilities, and handoffs are clearly defined. Escalate issues appropriately when scope, timeline, or resources are at risk. Provide clear, concise project status updates to leadership. Track and report progress against milestones, risks, and action items. Maintain project documentation, meeting notes, and decision logs. Serve as the central point of communication for assigned projects. Support government contract pursuits by assisting with research and technical documentation inputs. Coordinate internal contributors for project plans, timelines, and deliverables related to government contracts. Help ensure research and project documentation aligns with contract language, statements of work (SOW), and compliance requirements. Support Lean, efficiency, and standardization initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve project execution, communication, and documentation. Work with Quality to ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. Ensure projects transition cleanly into standard operations with clear ownership. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree (Business, Operations – related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. 0-3 years of experience working in manufacturing, operations, engineering, quality, or supply chain environments. 0-3 years of experience with project coordination, project support, or project tracking. Experience in textile manufacturing preferred. Proficient in MS Office.
