healthcare teamAddress patient needs specific to the anticipated procedure and type of anesthesiaVerify and explain procedures, discuss the plan of care, and provide comfort and reassurance to patientsMaintain patient privacy, dignity, and patient rights at all timesAdminister medications per physician orders and document appropriatelySuccessfully start and manage peripheral IVsMonitor for and report abnormal findings or complications to the anesthesia provider and physicianParticipate in surgical timeouts and utilize the Safe Surgical ChecklistEnsure appropriate and safe patient positioning throughout proceduresMonitor patients during recovery from anesthesiaPrepare patients for discharge, including:Assisting with dressingReviewing discharge instructionsMedication reconciliationFollow-up appointment instructionsConfirm and document patient and responsible adult understanding of discharge instructions and indications for seeking emergent careProcedural Support & CoordinationSupervise and direct patient care in preprocedure, procedure, and postprocedure areasWork collaboratively with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the healthcare team to support the total endoscopy processOrganize nursing activities, time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide efficient, cost-effective patient careDelegate activities appropriately based on staff skill level, scope of practice, and Center policiesAssist with preparing assigned areas according to patient, physician, and procedure requirementsAssemble and ensure availability of functioning equipment, supplies, and instrumentsEnsure sterilization and high-level disinfection of supplies and equipment per policyHandle and log tissue specimens accurately according to policy and procedureMaintain and update physician preference cards as neededAssist with supplies, medications, and equipment inventoriesMaintain order and cleanliness of preprocedure areas, procedure rooms, and PACUDocumentation, Compliance & Professional PracticeAccurately interpret and follow physician orders per policy and proceduresDocument patient care accurately, legibly, and timely in the medical recordUtilize proper
