Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced, collaborative Emergency Department in New Mexico. This is an hourly, non-salaried position designed for an experienced RN who is comfortable providing high-quality care in a dynamic acute-care environment.

Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of RN experience to be considered.

The Emergency Department is a 19-bed unit located on the first floor and maintains an approximate 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio. The multidisciplinary team includes Registered Nurses, Nurse Externs, Paramedics, EMTs, Medical Assistants, CNAs, Phlebotomists, Pharmacists, and Providers.

With an average daily volume of approximately 108 patients, the department treats a broad range of emergency conditions, including cardiac emergencies, abdominal pain, respiratory distress, stroke, and trauma. The organization also provides specialized bariatric services and pediatric and pediatric intensive care services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, and evidence-based nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and continuously monitor changes in patient condition.
• Prioritize patient needs based on acuity and clinical presentation.
• Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions according to physician/provider orders and established protocols.
• Respond effectively to cardiac, respiratory, neurological, trauma, and other emergency situations.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, paramedics, technicians, pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, regulatory, and hospital policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered Emergency Department environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of RN experience required.
• Current New Mexico Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and emergency response skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced Emergency Department.
• Ability to begin employment within approximately 30 days. Additional flexibility may be considered for candidates requiring relocation.
