Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 31-bed Medical Surgical unit serving general medicine patients with a variety of diagnoses
• Manage and titrate Heparin drips in accordance with unit protocols
• Monitor and manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC, as well as stable BiPAP/CPAP needs at night or PRN
• Collaborate with Patient Care Technicians, Hospitalist/Intensivist staff, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy — all available in-house 24/7
• Perform IV starts and utilize unit resources when needed; coordinate with the inpatient phlebotomy team for blood draws
• Float to other units as needed; travel RNs are first to float per unit policy

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Ability to titrate Heparin drips
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard contract rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 1 year of hospital-based nursing experience preferred
• ACLS certification preferred , particularly for those interested in Charge RN responsibilities
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring; unit utilizes Philips equipment with remote house-wide telemetry support
