RN (Registered Nurse) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a combined medical, neuro, neurosurgical, general/trauma surgical, and trauma stepdown unit with a 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage a wide range of complex diagnoses including COPD, CHF, sepsis, stroke, seizures, DKA, GI bleeds, end-stage renal disease, and post-operative conditions
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors
• Care for patients requiring tracheostomy and mechanical ventilator management , as well as chest tubes, PICC lines, central lines, arterial lines, BiPAP, CPAP, and NG/G-tubes
• Confirm telemetry strip interpretations in collaboration with telemetry technicians using Philips bedside monitors
• Float as needed to ICU, other Stepdown units, or General Med floors based on staffing needs and experience level

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of ICU or Intermediate/Stepdown RN experience with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1 or 2:1 — progressive care or telemetry-only experience is not sufficient
• Tracheostomy and mechanical ventilator experience required
• Ability to independently titrate drips and manage high-acuity patients
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard contract rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (recommended)
• Experience with Epic EMR
• Prior experience caring for neurosurgical patients, including post-op craniotomy and lumbar drain management
• Extensive ICU background preferred for candidates who may be floated to the ICU
