Position Summary:

Lord & Winter, LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Natural Resources to lead the successful delivery of environmental permitting, water resources, jurisdictional determination, and endangered species consultation projects throughout Tennessee and the southeastern United States. This is a client-facing leadership position responsible for managing projects from authorization through closeout while ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction objectives are achieved.

The Project Manager will oversee multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, specialty consultants, clients, and regulatory agencies to deliver projects efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with applicable environmental regulations and company standards. This role plays a critical part in supporting the continued growth and success of Lord & Winter’s Natural Resources practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage natural resources and environmental compliance projects from initiation through completion.

Develop and execute environmental permitting strategies for public and private sector projects.

Oversee wetland and stream delineations, jurisdictional determinations, endangered species surveys, and regulatory consultations.

Coordinate with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and state environmental agencies.

Manage project scope, schedule, budget, profitability, invoicing, and financial performance.

Lead project teams, subcontractors, and specialty consultants to meet project objectives and deliverables.

Review and ensure the quality of technical reports, permit applications, environmental studies, and client deliverables.

Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding project status, schedules, risks, and opportunities.

Identify and manage project risks while implementing effective solutions to maintain project performance.

Support business development efforts by maintaining client relationships, identifying repeat work opportunities, and contributing to proposals and project pursuits.

Mentor and support junior staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

10+ years of professional experience managing natural resources, environmental permitting, ecological consulting, or environmental compliance projects.

Demonstrated experience with environmental permitting, wetlands, streams, jurisdictional determinations, and endangered species consultations.

Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting requirements.

Proven project management experience, including oversight of schedules, budgets, contracts, and multidisciplinary teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.

Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

Experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel periodically for client meetings and field activities.
