Primary Responsibilities Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pet and provide accurate information about fees, policies, and procedures. Instruct clients on pre‑visit preparations, post‑discharge care, and medication administration. Educate clients on preventive medicine and vaccinations; recommend laboratory procedures and provide educational materials. Demonstrate warmth, courtesy, and professionalism in all client and patient interactions. Restrain animals safely and compassionately during examinations and procedures. Collect laboratory samples or coordinate sample collection, preparing any necessary equipment and anticipating required medications or vaccines. Notify the veterinarian when patients are ready for examination, provide pre‑exam information, and assist within the exam room by restraining the animal, preparing forms, and obtaining instruments. Ensure all procedures are documented correctly for billing and record‑keeping. Escort clients and pets to the front desk, hand over records for receipting, and prepare the exam room for the next visit. Prepare specimens for outside laboratories and retrieve results via phone or fax. Monitor laboratory supplies and order additional supplies as needed. Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures. Perform routine suture removals, nail trims, weight checks, and apply bandages or splints under veterinary direction. Administer injections as directed (intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous). Promote practice products, programs, and services and make suggestions to clients about suitable products.
