Physician Assistant, Cardiac Surgery – Per Diem MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA) for its cardiothoracic and vascular surgery practice at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center (Fountain Valley, CA), Saddleback Medical Center (Laguna Hills, CA), and Long Beach Medical Center (Long Beach, CA) in Southern California. Hourly Rate: $133 - $153 Position Summary Patient care responsibilities include assisting the supervising surgeon in the operating room and contributing to the global management of patients undergoing cardiothoracic, vascular, or aortic surgery. Job Duties and Responsibilities Assist in peri-operative care from patient histories to invasive surgical procedures, including retrieval of vascular tissue in coronary bypass procedures. Have extensive knowledge of artificial cardiac devices, ventilators, and the pharmacologic effects of vasoactive/cardiotonic drugs. Provide patient care expertise in postoperative acute care units, step-down units, and regular floors. First assist in the operating room, participate in aortic clinic, and perform endovascular vein harvesting. Be part of one of the largest programs on the West Coast for comprehensive aortic diagnosis and treatment. Experience 1+ year of first assist experience. Experience with endovascular vein harvesting. Education and Licensure Requirements Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. NCCPA Board certified or board eligible. California medical license (or eligible to obtain). Prior experience with Epic EMR is helpful. ACLS certification. DEA.
