About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiothoracic Surgery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: CVICU experience required; minimum of 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty. License: RN license required. Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required. Must-Have: Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required. Telemetry test must be passed prior to clearance to start. Description: Evening and night shifts with every other weekend and some holidays. No call required. Nurses will care for 1-2 patients, with a maximum of 3 patients if acuity is low. The unit specializes in the care of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients. Duties include accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, assistance with chest tube insertion and removal, and blood product administration. Skills in care of ventilated patients and central line management are essential. Nurses are responsible for administering emergency medications and monitoring various cardiac devices. The workforce includes care team leaders, rapid response nurses, and nursing assistants. Staff members will be supported by interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Special procedures frequently occur on the unit, requiring adept handling of changing patient needs. Staff assignments may shift based on patient admissions and discharges, both planned and emergent.
