About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night or Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (3 shifts per week) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience required License: Wisconsin RN license required Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required Experience in a Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred Traveler will be required to pass a Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start Description: This position requires working 8 or 12 hour shifts. Shifts are from 07:00 to 19:30 or from 19:00 to 07:30. Staffing involves every other weekend and some holidays, with no call required. Candidates must possess experience in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Responsibilities include the care of patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical procedures. Specific interventions include coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair or replacement, and management of various heart conditions. The unit specializes in complex medical diagnoses such as cardiac failure, arrhythmia management, and cardiogenic shock. Nurses are expected to administer emergency medications, monitor vital signs, and provide critical care interventions. Proficiency in using advanced medical equipment, including CRRT, IABP, and Impella, is essential. The role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality care in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Nurses will typically care for 1 to 2 patients, with the possibility of 3 patients during times of lower acuity. The environment supports planned and emergent procedures frequently, with necessary resources available to assist during shifts. Nurses are required to float as needed across the unit. Success in this role is contingent upon the ability to pass a telemetry exam with strict criteria set for identification of lethal rhythms.
