Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Ortho/Med-Surg

The Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff. This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare policies and demonstrates proficiency in unit-specific competencies, policies, and procedures.

• Provide patient care across all age groups, from newborns to geriatrics, to support optimal health outcomes.
• Adhere to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Maintain professional and effective communication with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies.
• Complete additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) within the state of Kansas, or completion of at least one semester of nursing school.

• Current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, and instrument care/handling (Obstetrics and Surgery).
• Completion of EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency department).

• Previous experience in a medical environment.
• Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification (ASCP) is a plus.

• Basic to moderate computer skills, including telesitter technology.
• Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

• Ability to perform very heavy work, occasionally lifting over 100 lbs and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Standing or walking for 75-100% of the workday, with or without accommodation.
