Behavior Support Specialist (Independent Contractor)

Position Overview Behavior Support Specialist (Independent Contractor) at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health – Pocono Center, 1547 Mill Creek Road, Newfoundland, PA 18445. Responsible for providing behavioral services in the community, mainly in Day Programs for individuals with developmental disabilities within Carbon, Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, and Wayne counties in NE Pennsylvania. Key Responsibilities Provide expertise in behavioral management protocols. Collaborate with other treatment team members to design and direct implementation of individualized behavior modification intervention plans. Identify behavioral goals and intervention techniques, recommending least restrictive methods. Develop treatment plans, services, and outcome-based short‑term goals for identified child/adolescent. Conduct assessments of strengths and therapeutic needs of assigned children and their families. Attend and participate in Inter‑Agency Service Planning Team (ISPT) meetings. Gather written information on antecedents, behaviors, and consequences to evaluate intervention effectiveness and identify problems. Collaborate with other involved professionals and agencies to provide unified services and continuity of care to children and families. Develop discharge planning criteria. Work with families to determine assessment of family needs and appropriate treatment modalities. Provide clinical services to adults and families when appropriate. Maintain written documentation and clinical records of therapeutic process and progress. Submit applicable billing documentation to facilitate payment of services. Participate in company orientation, in‑service training, and Office of Mental Health training. Ensure confidentiality of program participants, records, and information at all times. Maintain effective multi‑disciplinary team interactions. Act as a mandated reporter under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law. Travel to site visits and meetings. Provide coverage in emergency situations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Mental Health Master’s Degree with certification in ABA or other behavioral management. Or: other degree with 12 credits in behavior management and at least 1 year of experience providing clinically supervised treatment to children and 1 year of experience with behavioral interventions. Compensation Pay Rate: $38/hour (Non‑ABA) or $40/hour (ABA Qualified). Sign‑On Bonus: $250 at completion of training and onboarding; $250 after first case worked; $250 at 90 days after first case worked. For applicants before 6/30/2026, a higher sign‑on bonus of $2000 total in increments: $500 at training completion, $500 after first case worked, and $1000 at 6 months after first case worked.
