Equipment OperatorThe Equipment Operator position is responsible for handling and loading MSW, C and D waste, and Single Sort Recyclables to ensure materials are transported and disposed of in an appropriate manner.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Efficiently transfer solid waste while operating excavators, loaders and skid steers.Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment and vehiclesPerform preventive maintenance on equipment and vehiclesMaintain various records and/or logsWash, lubricate and fuel equipment and vehiclesIdentify and sort materials from incoming loadsCarry out site grounds maintenance including; picking litter, street sweeping, snow removal, etc.Perform building and other stationary equipment maintenancePerform other related duties as assignedDirect customers where to dump waste material on siteEnsure that transfer trailers are loaded efficiently but not exceeding DOT weight limitsCommunicate with scale operator and other site personnelREQUIREMENTS:Education and/or experience:1. High school diploma or GED2.
