Responsibilities Job Title: Charge Nurse Position Summary: Assumes shift responsibility and accountability for the planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care to patients, families, care partners, and appropriate others. Coordinates multidisciplinary team members and directs nursing staff to achieve safe, optimal health care outcomes. Supports activities aligned with the facility’s vision, mission, and goals. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team, applying patient‑centered care principles and demonstrating service excellence at all times. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and evaluate age‑appropriate care plans using the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education. Maintain professional behavior when addressing issues or conflicts, utilizing appropriate resources as needed. Create a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees, assessing risks and implementing precautions. Ensure compliance with approved standards, accrediting agency requirements, and safety and injury prevention guidelines. Delegate responsibilities and provide feedback to staff regarding performance. Demonstrate initiative, collaboration, and sound judgment in day‑to‑day unit management. Communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, employees, and physicians; respond promptly to customer issues. Manage staffing for each shift based on patient census, acuity, and available resources. Qualifications Education, Training, Experience, and Licenses Required: Graduate of an accredited or NLN‑approved RN program. Successfully pass any pre‑employment assessment(s). BLS certification from the American Heart Association (or obtained during orientation) and maintain certification throughout employment. Current state nursing license or permit to practice in Texas. Complete de‑escalation training within 90 days of hire. Ongoing compliance with demonstration of clinically pertinent competencies as determined by the facility.
