Position Overview

Our client, a well-established CPA firm with decades of experience serving individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations , is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join its Sanford team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys hands-on tax work, direct client relationships, and mentoring junior staff while working within a stable, collaborative firm that values work-life balance.

What You'll Do
• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S, and 990 returns.
• Review financial statements and accounting records for tax preparation and accuracy.
• Reconcile business accounts, including bank statements, credit cards, and fixed assets.
• Serve as a key point of communication between clients and firm partners.
• Conduct tax research and provide clear, well-supported recommendations.
• Assist clients with tax-related questions and planning needs.
• Review accounting information related to payroll, depreciation, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Mentor and support junior accounting and tax professionals as needed.
• Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines, particularly during peak tax periods.
• Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive client and financial information.

What We're Looking For
• 5+ years of tax experience within a CPA firm environment.
• Strong experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
• Solid understanding of federal and state taxation.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks .
• Experience with Thomson Reuters UltraTax or comparable professional tax software.
• Working knowledge of payroll, depreciation, A/P, and A/R.
• Strong tax research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong client-service mindset with the ability to build long-term relationships.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred, but not required.
• Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior staff.
• Experience working directly with business owners and high-value client relationships.
