Construction Project Accountant

We are growing our development pipeline, including data center projects, and we're looking for a Construction Project Accountant to own the financial side of our active builds. You'll work daily with project managers, leaders, and leadership. You'll keep every draw, budget, and ledger accurate, on time, and ready for audit.

What You'll Do

Draws & Lender Compliance

• Prepare and submit monthly requisitions (draw requests) in line with loan agreement requirements

• Reconcile draws against budgets, contracts, and lender/investor requirements, and resolve discrepancies

• Coordinate draw packages with lenders, title companies, and auditors

• Collect and track subcontractor compliance documents, including lien waivers, insurance certificates, and bonds

Job Costing & Budgets

• Maintain construction ledgers for all active projects

• Prepare and maintain the Anticipated Cost Report (ACR), tracking budget-to-actual variances

• Review and process AIA pay applications (G702/G703) from general contractors and subcontractors

• Code invoices and costs to the correct job cost codes

• Track change orders and update budgets and contract values

• Track retainage across owner contracts and subcontracts

• Deliver variance analysis to PMs and leadership, flagging overruns and funding gaps early

Cash Management & Reporting

• Oversee cash for each development project and related entity, including contractor and professional payments, transfers, and fee collection

• Support month-end close for construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts, including reconciliations and journal entries

• Prepare the monthly financial reporting package for the Development entity, with full backup and reconciliations

• Support internal and external audits

• Lead closeout accounting and final budget reconciliation at project completion

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting

• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in construction, real estate, or another project-based environment

• Hands-on experience with AIA billing and construction cost coding

• Familiarity with construction loan draw processes and lender compliance

• Strong Excel skills

• The organization to juggle multiple projects and deadlines without losing accuracy

• Clear communication with PMs, finance, lenders, auditors, and contractors

Compensation: $125,000-$135,000
