Customer Reimbursement Coordinator [Remote]

This role provides direct support to customers navigating healthcare reimbursement, claims, and insurance processes.
You will help customers understand reimbursement requirements, resolve claims-related questions, and navigate authorization and appeal processes.
The position combines customer service, healthcare reimbursement expertise, documentation review, and regulatory compliance.
You will work closely with customers, providers, payers, and internal teams to resolve complex reimbursement issues efficiently.
Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as the role involves verifying benefits, reviewing claims documentation, and maintaining compliant records.

Accountabilities

• Respond to customer questions regarding reimbursement policies, claim status, procedures, and requirements through phone, email, and other communication channels.
• Provide clear, accurate, and empathetic guidance throughout the reimbursement and claims process.
• Assist customers with completing and submitting reimbursement claims and ensure required documentation is accurate and complete.
• Review and verify insurance benefits in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Initiate and support prior authorization requests with payers on behalf of providers.
• Provide support with appeals and denied authorization requests, helping customers and stakeholders understand available next steps.
• Review claims documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance and help ensure timely processing.
• Maintain detailed, organized, and up-to-date records of customer interactions and reimbursement activities.
• Prepare reports on reimbursement activity, trends, quality, and other operational metrics as required.
• Conduct quality checks to maintain high standards of customer service, documentation accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor changes to reimbursement policies and procedures and communicate relevant updates to customers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with other departments to investigate and resolve complex reimbursement issues and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Support colleagues as needed and participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• At least 4 years of experience in customer service, healthcare reimbursement, insurance, billing, or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement processes, insurance benefits, claims, and applicable regulations.
• Experience with reimbursement management systems and customer support software.
• Proficiency with standard office applications and digital tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex reimbursement information clearly to customers and stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a professional and empathetic approach to handling sensitive issues.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing benefits, claims, documentation, and customer records.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities effectively.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to process improvements.
• Healthcare reimbursement certification or a related professional certification is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in a fully remote environment.
