Operations Manager

The Operations Manager will plan, direct, manage and support USA plant operations. Providing focus and leadership for all plant related issues.

Management responsibility and control over the plant operations including planning, production, staffing, quality, maintenance and safety.

Work with the plant teams to achieve improvements in teamwork, efficiency and effectiveness in order to achieve KPI and financial targets. Develop a culture of continuous improvement across the business by utilizing CI problem solving tools and encouraging participation from the teams.

Provide support, coaching and direction to Plant Managers and high potential candidates within the organization.

Create and manage the supply chain for plants. Interface extensively with clients regarding supply chain projects.

Manage client relationships by periodically meeting with clients to evaluate and improve service levels.

Create manage and audit the Health, Safety and Environmental systems for compliance.

Manage and report the Greenhouse emissions as required by clients.

Improve and manage the quality systems. Ensure acceptable results on client audits. Ensure attainment of any client-required certifications.

In coordination with HR, responsible for overseeing plant training matrix and training processes.

Ensure that all SAP transactions and control functions are completed per corporate guidelines.

Negotiate with operations related vendors to achieve improved pricing, terms and service.

Support the HACCP and Food Safety teams in the plants.

Interface with all levels and functional departments of the organization.

Responsible for conducting Monthly operations meetings and providing leadership on continuous follow-up.

Other duties as assigned by manager.

Experience in a management role with a proven track record in a similar environment.

Hold a recognized academic or professional qualification and should be able to demonstrate strong experience in operations management and process improvement.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, Kaizen, Business Management systems and other accreditation.

Good interpersonal skills; required to work with personnel at all levels, including client staff, project teams, site operatives, auditors and external certification bodies.

Strong and positive people management background and must be able to demonstrate a hands on management style.

Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, including EHS.

Proven track record with experience, ability and knowledge to manufacture products to the highest standards.

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to assist in raising the performance of the group and help achieve common goals and objectives.

Must have the ability to support all plant operations in the country.

Working knowledge of computer systems – Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and SAP.

Must be able to provide externally recognized levels of competence that are consistent with the role.

Must be mobile and flexible to travel extensively if required.
