Position Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator in our cardiac stepdown unit is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinating all functions within the unit during their assigned shift. Working alongside other management team members, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in line with established policies and procedures. This role also serves as a resource for staff and exemplifies a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values, thereby supporting an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcomes that enhance overall departmental performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitates admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
• Engages in ongoing assessments of the quality of patient care services in collaboration with management.
• Works with subject matter experts and other managers to foster a teamwork environment that enhances outcomes and service quality.
• Promotes a patient-first philosophy and participates in service recovery when needed.
• Contributes to improving staff engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly checks.
• Provides input on interviewing, selecting, and training new staff, and recommends actions related to training, conflict resolution, compliance with personnel policies, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures to enhance organizational competitiveness.
• Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor aspects in accordance with patient care needs and productivity guidelines.
• Ensures proper inventory control and assists in managing supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

• Current active Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Registered Nurse license in the state of TN or a current active multistate license.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited nursing program is preferred.

Our facility is a 270+ bed hospital located near downtown Chattanooga, offering a wide range of diagnostic, medical, and surgical services, including cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. We provide intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, rehabilitation, and a state-of-the-art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services, a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and behavioral health treatment centers for both children and adults.
