Position Overview and Requirements

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Practice Act.

This role involves employing therapeutic communication techniques in daily interactions and ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment. The nurse identifies individual patient needs and formulates personalized care plans using a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach. Participation in performance improvement initiatives is also expected, along with providing care that aligns with the hospital's mission and vision.

In the capacity of charge nurse, Registered Nurses oversee daily operations to guarantee high-quality patient care in a supportive environment. Responsibilities include making staff assignments based on patient needs, acuity, and staff competencies. They also serve as clinical resources and role models for the team, responding promptly to inquiries from physicians, staff, or patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs while executing physician orders.

• Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.

• Document and communicate patient conditions accurately using computerized systems.

• Educate patients and their families as part of a Multidisciplinary Care Planning team.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse with a degree from an accredited nursing program.

• Current licensure with the Tennessee Board of Nursing.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.

• Preferred: One year of clinical nursing experience.

Our facility is a 270+ bed hospital located near downtown Chattanooga, offering a wide range of diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These include cardiovascular surgery, cancer treatment, intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. We also feature a state-of-the-art neurosurgery program, OB-GYN services, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), along with behavioral health treatment centers for both children and adults.
