It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.Description of WorkThe primary purpose of this position is to provide speech language evaluations and treatment to children and families enrolled in or referred to the NC Infant Toddler Program. Services must be provided in compliance with Federal and State regulations for the Infant Toddler Program. All services are provided in the child’s natural environments (most often in family homes).Who are we?• The North Carolina Early Intervention Section is a part of the Division of Child and Family Well-Being. It is the lead agency for the N.C. Infant-Toddler Program which provides supports and services for families and their children, birth to three, who have developmental delays and/or disabilities.• Children's Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs) are the local agencies that implement the NC ITP across North Carolina, working with local service providers to help families help their children succeed.Be Part of Early Intervention!Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Range: $66,696 - $110,049Starting Salary: $66,696 - 67,000Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:· Considerable knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methods of speech/language pathology as applicable to children birth to three, including speech and language development, articulation, phonology, oral-motor function, and preferably in pediatric dysphagia.· Working knowledge of augmentative communication options and devices for this population.· Working ability to evaluate patient response and progress, evaluating and treating pediatric feeding disorders, and to present evaluative reports in a case staffing and multidisciplinary team meeting.· Experienced working effectively with children aged 0-3, their families, medical personnel, and other CDSA staff members, and to deal tactfully with the public.· Experience with or willingness to learn to provide services using an evidence-based Early Intervention Caregiver Coaching model and delivery of SLP services via teletherapy.Workstation will be located in the Asheville CDSA office.Physical Requirements (If Applicable):Must be able to travel throughout assigned area via car, and access client homes and other community locations.This position is funded through federal funds.This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.About the NC Division of Child and Family Well-Being:The Division of Child and Family Well-Being is a division at the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) that will focus on supporting whole child and family health and well-being for North Carolinians with several sections including nutrition programs (WIC, SNAP and Child and Adult Care Food Program), health & prevention services for children and youth, children’s behavioral health programs, and early intervention programs.
