Temporary Mail Room Clerk

We are looking to hire a temporary Mail Room Clerk. This position will begin in October and run through March 2027.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare materials and assemble mail packages to job and quality control specifications (via insertion equipment operation and/or by hand), and organize (batch) completed packages to USPS requirements.
• Operate mail processing systems to ensure proper application of postage and accounting of postage funds (methods include, but may not be limited to, USPS First Class mail processing, pre-sort mail processing and software, bulk mail permitting and processing and express/courier package processing).
• Handle inbound correspondence/mail opening and distribution supporting assigned disciplines.
• Manage mail room inventory and supplies, including periodic preparation of internal materials for offsite storage.
• Support other general office functions as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required, 2-year degree preferred.
• 1 - 3 years of work-related experience preferred.
• Experience with mailing and insertion systems and USPS mailing requirements (preferred).
• Basic computer skills necessary including those necessary to type and use a keyboard as well as use of Microsoft Office, letter generation and third-party mailing software.
• Ability to take direction from multiple parties and follow job procedures and specifications.
• Ability to stay organized both personally and within the shared mailroom space and complete job tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or sit for extended periods of time, regularly reach above shoulder height and stoop below the waist.
• Ability to transport (or assist with the transport of) fulfilled, posted mailing materials to USPS facilities based on necessity and reasonability of need

The pay rate range for this job position is $15.97 to $28.25. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant's skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location.
