Senior Bus Driver

The Borough of Pitman is seeking a responsible and caring Senior Citizen Bus Driver to operate the Borough’s shuttle bus, providing safe and courteous transportation for senior residents and other groups on scheduled trips and special outings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, patience, and a strong sense of responsibility. Key Responsibilities Safely operate a Borough-owned shuttle bus for scheduled senior citizen transportation, special events, and school field trips. Assist senior citizens as needed when boarding or exiting the bus, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all riders. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report maintenance issues or concerns to the Borough mechanic promptly. Coordinate schedules and trip details with the Recreation Director. Ensure a clean and safe vehicle environment at all times. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement required. Prior experience operating a shuttle or similar vehicle preferred. Experience working with senior citizens or special needs populations a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift and assist individuals with limited mobility, as necessary. Knowledge of basic vehicle operation and maintenance procedures. Work Schedule Variable schedule depending on planned trips and events; may include weekdays and occasional weekends. Compensation Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
