Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
On-Call: After each weekday shift and weekends

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy / Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to provide pharmacy leadership and oversight at a 165-bed hospital in Huntington, WV. The ideal candidate will have hospital pharmacy experience, strong leadership skills, and a current West Virginia pharmacist license.

This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy leader to step into an established operation and provide continuity during a Director of Pharmacy transition. The current DOP is retiring and will provide onsite training and transition support to the incoming interim leader.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC)
• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of pharmacy operations
• Manage pharmacy staffing and scheduling
• Ensure compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations, policies, and procedures
• Oversee medication distribution and pharmacy workflow
• Supervise and support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
• Manage administrative responsibilities associated with the PIC role
• Collaborate with hospital leadership, medical staff, nursing, and other departments
• Maintain appropriate pharmacy services and operational standards
• Support inventory management and medication procurement processes
• Provide oversight of pharmacy technology and automation
• Participate in on-call coverage after weekday shifts and on weekends
• Ensure continuity of pharmacy services throughout the interim assignment

• 1 Full-Time Pharmacist
• 4 Per Diem Pharmacists
• 2.6 FTE Pharmacy Technicians
• Technician Support Includes: Order filling, delivery, and inventory management

Technology:

• Order Entry System: HCS — training will be provided
• Pharmacy Automation: Omnicell — training will be provided
• Previous Omnicell experience is preferred

Qualifications:

• Active West Virginia pharmacist license required
• Hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred
• Previous pharmacy leadership or Director/PIC experience preferred
• Omnicell experience preferred
• Strong understanding of hospital pharmacy operations
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to manage both clinical/operational and administrative responsibilities
• Ability to work independently and effectively lead pharmacy staff

Training & Transition:

The retiring Director of Pharmacy will provide onsite training and transition support to help ensure a smooth handoff and familiarize the interim leader with the facility's pharmacy operations, systems, and processes.
