Job Title: Safety Coordinator
Reports To: Production Manager
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Summary
Plans, directs, and implements the organization's safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident free work environment by performing the following duties personally or through supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
- Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accidents causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
- Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards, determines corrective or prevenative measures where indicated, and follows up tp ensure measures have been implemented.
- Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
- Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Oversees the administartion of the workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
- Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and materials for display, promotional work, industry conferences, and exhibitions
- Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs
- Maintains safety files and records, both written and electronic.
Qualifications
- Manufacturing experience prefered
- Ability to work with a senior leadership team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees,and vendors.
- Personal integrity and able to perform all job responsibilities in an ethical and non-discriminatory manner.
- Ability to retain confidental information.
- Problem-solving and reasoning ability to collect data, establish, facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and can effectively commnicate with all levels within the organization, customers, and corporate officials.
- Determination and assertiveness to acomplish goals and objectives.
Safety and Security
Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivelent from a two-year college or technical school; four to five years related experience and/or training in the housing environment; or equivelent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborn particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock,and vibration. The noise-level in the work environment is usually moderate.
