Job Summary Field work executing a comprehensive, effective and efficient program and public education campaigns related to the elimination of litter in designated areas of the City. Work is performed under general supervision. Responsibilities Assist with the comprehensive Clean City Program by documenting current conditions throughout the City; keep informed of codes and ordinances affecting litter abatement; explore alternatives and best practices. Perform clean-up projects in designated areas; remove litter, debris, and graffiti. Maintain bus stops by removing litter, trash, and graffiti. Keep accurate daily and monthly logs. Work with homeowner groups and perform public education campaigns designed to increase resident participation in litter abatement and public awareness of environmental issues; conduct public presentations and publicize special events. Track and manage supplies associated with the litter abatement program, ensure expenses are documented, and provide progress reports. Foster positive employee relations and morale on a City-side basis. Qualifications High school diploma or acceptable equivalent, with knowledge of sanitation and litter prevention practices, or three (3) years of related sanitation experience. Knowledge of current recycling techniques, material processing and collection procedures, and waste authority policies and procedures. Proficiency with basic computer office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to interface with solid waste haulers; ability to write reports; effective oral and written communication skills. Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Physical Demands / Work Environment The work requires frequent sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with both hands and arms. Occasionally walking, standing, and lifting or handling up to 25 lbs. Required vision includes close vision and ability to adjust focus.
