Job Summary The Sustainability Analyst will play a key role in Stanford Medicine Children’s Health’s sustainability strategy by supporting the development and implementation of projects, programs, policies, and budgets related to sustainability. The role focuses on climate action and resilience planning, building decarbonization and electrification, green building and energy efficiency, waste reduction, and alternative transportation. The analyst will collect, calculate, model and report sustainability data; create and update sustainability content for educational and outreach materials; and work with internal teams to pursue opportunities to reduce the environmental impacts of our facilities. Essential Functions Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights, safety, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, ongoing training, communication, safety and quality programs, national patient safety goals, and licensure and health screenings. All duties must comply with the hospital’s policies and procedures. Manages the collection, analysis, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPI) and develops continuous improvement and action plans. Provides analysis of large, complex data sets from utility, waste, furnishing, purchasing, and food data to give leaders key insights. Uses audit and use/disposal information to assist the Sustainability Team in preparing, reviewing, and presenting the business case for sustainability programs and improved education. Develops a metric dashboard system to track goals and advises sustainability leadership on communication to stakeholders. Identifies and frames trends to define potential opportunities, creating charts and analyzing results for trends and anomalies. Maintains department database information and tracking sheets; collects data for annual GHG report, Practice GreenHealth report, and sustainability reports. Streamlines reporting requirements and recommends improvements to reporting and analytics processes. Supports sustainability and waste reduction projects, participating in project design and implementation to improve energy efficiency; consults construction teams on sustainable design and operational strategies. Develops and maintains training and education materials for sustainability initiatives. Creates and distributes written, verbal, graphic content, including reports, presentations, website content, social media, dashboards, and event logistics; partners with Marketing to update internal and external web sites. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible, directly related work experience. Licensure/Certification: None required. Knowledge Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel for data analysis and reporting. Ability to critically evaluate data, identify trends, and draw insights to inform decision‑making and problem‑solving related to sustainability challenges. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines. Team‑player skills and independent contributor abilities. Ability to work well with individuals at all levels. Capacity to think creatively, function independently, and work proactively in a fast‑paced environment. Adaptability to change and ambiguity. Develop analytics and reporting solutions to provide insights to stakeholders and process owners. Identify opportunities for process and performance improvement through data analysis. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to the functional area. Knowledge of new technologies and staying abreast of updates and changes. Compensation Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role, as well as education, experience, and internal equity. New team members typically join at the minimum to mid salary range.
