Seed Plant Conditioning Specialist

Where: Bloomington, IL • When: Full-time, second shift • Openings: 2

Every unit of seed we ship must be cleaned, sorted, sized, treated, and packaged to exacting customer standards. As a Conditioning Specialist, you’re the steward of that quality — operating the tower, orchestrating flow, and ensuring each run hits spec with minimal downtime.

• Operate the conditioning tower and continuously optimize throughput
• Control product flow across cleaning, sizing, treating, and packaging stages
• Provide daily supervision for the conditioning crew on the floor (informal leadership, not a desk job)
• Safeguard product integrity with meticulous cleanouts and careful transfers
• Implement Remington’s QMS and uphold company safety programs
• Surface and drive safety and process improvements
• Document every run with accurate conditioning records
• Perform preseason maintenance to reduce in-season downtime
• Assist with forklifts and routine preventative maintenance on equipment
• Keep the area neat, clean, and organized

• You’re confidently setting up the tower, adjusting for different seed types, and balancing speed with quality
• You’ve built trust with the crew and provide clear direction during changeovers
• QMS tasks and safety checks are second nature, and your documentation is audit-ready

• Hourly pay: $19–$20
• Profit sharing: 15–17% bonus paid in December and August (historically equates to about $3–$4/hour on average)
• Overtime: available during peak season

Expect to be on your feet all day and regularly lift 30–75 lb bags. This is a dusty environment with seed and pollen exposure. PPE is provided, and candidates should be comfortable working in these conditions.

• September–March: Conditioning and shipping season — high volume, urgency, and overtime opportunities
• March–September: Shipping slows — focus shifts to organizing the warehouse and preparing for next season

• Hands-on production line experience — food manufacturing, packaging lines, grain handling, feed milling, or fertilizer processing are all relevant
• Strong communication and leadership instincts — the go-to problem solver on the line
• Forklift experience or willingness to get certified
• Mechanical aptitude for preseason and preventative maintenance
• Reliable attendance and a stable, long-tenured work history
