Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care / Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Patient ratio 1:3 on nights. 36-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

• Work in a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center recognized as Wisconsin's leading academic medical institution
• Provide specialized care in both IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units, caring for patients with complex diagnoses including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant
• 29-bed progressive care unit with a mix of general care (1:4 ratio) and IMC (1:2 ratio) patients requiring critical thinking and advanced clinical skills
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Epic charting system with strong technological and clinical resources
• Collaborative team environment where nurses are integral members of the multidisciplinary care team

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in progressive care/stepdown specialty
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
• Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Ventilator and transplant experience required (strong proficiency mandatory)
• Previous travel experience required
• Academic Level I or II trauma center experience or similar size hospital required
• Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start with strict passing criteria (80% minimum, 100% on lethal rhythms)
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Must reside 50+ miles from the facility
• Floating to other units as needed
