Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) Medical/Surgical Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day/Night rotation, 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 / 1900-0730) with every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days/nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period. Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift.

Highlights:

• Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with 25-bed capacity serving adult and geriatric populations under the Family Medicine service
• Daily census of approximately 20 patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses
• Epic EMR system utilized facility-wide
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and phlebotomy
• Unit includes specialized locked wing for Department of Corrections patients with dedicated security officer accompaniment
• Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's top hospital and recognized as a leading teaching institution and referral center nationally

Requirements:

• Active RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care Medical/Surgical experience within the last 3 years
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Demonstrated proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs
• Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start date with strict passing criteria including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% overall score
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skills required include central line management, PICC line management, PCA pumps, wound care/wound vac, feeding tube management, heparin and insulin administration, and managing ports
• Previous experience with law enforcement/Department of Corrections patient care preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Floating to other units as needed
