Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)
Proto is looking for Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to help deploy our AI solutions in complex customer environments.
You will work closely with customers and Proto's Product, Engineering, Languages and CX teams to handle the technical side of new deployments. This includes integrations, infrastructure, on-premise deployments, local-language AI, testing, and troubleshooting.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and turning requirements into working solutions.
The role is based in Karachi and will support deployments across Pakistan and the wider region, with travel when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical implementation and deployment of Proto solutions for customers.
- Configure and support cloud and on-premise deployments.
- Build, test, and troubleshoot integrations using APIs, webhooks, JSON, and other technologies.
- Work with Linux environments, servers, containers, networking, and deployment infrastructure.
- Support local-language AI, NLP, and other technical requirements for customer deployments.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and work with Engineering and Product teams to resolve them.
- Test and validate solutions before production launch.
- Work closely with CX Managers to ensure a smooth transition from initial deployment to ongoing customer management.
- Create clear technical documentation for deployments, configurations, and integrations.
- Participate in technical experiments, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts.
- Recommend improvements based on challenges and learnings from customer deployments.
- Travel to customer locations when required for complex deployments.
Qualifications
- Experience in software engineering, DevOps, solutions engineering, implementation engineering, or a similar technical role.
- Good understanding of Linux and DevOps fundamentals.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, and system integrations.
- Experience with Docker or other container technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Basic understanding of networking, servers, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Bash, or similar.
- Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to confidently work directly with customers.
- Ability to work independently in fast-moving and changing environments.
- Experience with AI, LLMs, NLP, conversational AI, Kubernetes, or on-premise deployments is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel when required.
- This role is open to candidates currently residing in the Karachi region only. Applicants must be based in Pakistan at the time of application.
