POSITION SUMMARY:


Responsible for performing all assigned diagnostic ultrasound exams and in a timely manner. Performs procedures according to physician's orders in the patient's chart or per prescription on outpatients. As a member of the care team, the Ultrasound Vascular Technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care.


POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS :
• Associate of Science degree in radiology, diagnostic ultrasound, or a certificate of successful completion from an accredited school of ultrasound or recognized educational program.
• ARDMS certification is required
• BLS and/or CPR certification is required
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of patients, management and physicians


JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE :
• Two (2) years experience in a healthcare setting as Vascular /Ultrasound Tech.
• Must have a comprehensive knowledge in anatomy and physiology.
• Present images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Requires good communication and organizational skills.
• Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.


Responsibilities:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for performing ultrasound procedures in a timely manner.
• Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures.
• Performs necessary quality control on equipment.
• Responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area.
• Performs all US procedures as per procedure protocols.
• Performs at a proficient level, all tasks within the specialty area.
• Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directions.
• Able to perform the necessary functions on the facility's computer system.
• Completes accurate documentation on patient records according to policy.
• Documents all pertinent patient information on worksheets for physician to interpret.
• Demonstrates accuracy, and the ability to follow established procedures.
• Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
• Must project a professional image.
• Must be willing to rotate to other facilities as needed.
• Maintain equipment and procedure competencies.
• Other duties as assigned.


CONTINUING EDUCATION:
• Responsible for earning 10 Category A credits of continuing education related to Ultra Sound.
• 10 Category A credits will be submitted each year on the month of the renewal of registration occurs.
• Passing of a registry does not constitute CE credits.

B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.


C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
