The Communications Coordinator will assist with managing internal and external communications for the District. The position will write and produce content that will message to staff, students, caregivers and community partners. This position will also coordinate the production of content; manage social media postings and other website content for broader district-wide communications. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube Website content management systems and digital communications best practices. Skills in: Critical thinking focused on identifying organizational challenges and opportunities, along with the ability to implement appropriate solutions Strong project management, organizational and prioritization Project management tools Writing, editing, and proofreading Photography and video production (basic level skillset). Ability to: Build and maintain effective working relationships in a school district structure at all levels Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and organize work to meet deadlines and conflicting priorities Work independently and collaboratively on a team Present clear and concise reports, both orally and in writing Apply creativity and effective problem-solving skills Provide customer service that meets or exceeds customer expectation and satisfaction Comfortable working with and influencing others at all levels of the organization Demonstrate cultural competence and knowledge of systemic oppression (racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia, etc.) Work effectively with a diverse array of groups and individuals Essential Functions Manage the website including all creative, technical and content-related issues regarding the sites, to ensure they are accurate, timely, functioning and fresh. Create and develop informative, user-friendly, customer-focused, and visually-compelling content concerning racial equity across all distribution channels (i.e. websites, social media, etc.) for internal and external communications. Develop public relations and digital marketing materials that support the District’s strategic objectives, engage the public, and identify innovative methods to bring targeted messages to market. Maintain and monitor consistency in creative direction and content of the District’s website and intranet in accordance with the District’s core values and preparing management and administrative reports relating to trends, site usage, improvements; assisting in policy development, and long-range planning and development and implementation of projects for the website. Creating, proofing, and editing content including: drafting emails and newsletter articles; creating and editing digital images and video; maintaining district-wide diversity calendar and coordinating the celebration of cultural events and inclusive holidays; and ensuring that all content is in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Work closely with the Director of Communications and Public Relations, this position will develop budgets and manage purchasing to support departments’ needs. Services include special education, career and technical education and alternative education for students in the west metro area of Minnesota. There are 4 Education Centers, 3 Area Learning Center Academies, 10 Care and Treatment sites, 3 programs at Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie and an Online academy.
