Job Title: Region Manager Division: Maintenance Job Summary The Region Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and financial success of Monarch's East Coast operations, overseeing multiple branch locations across the region. This role provides strategic direction to Branch Managers while driving profitable growth, customer retention, operational excellence, employee engagement, and safety performance. The Region Manager partners closely with Sales, Human Resources, Finance, Fleet, Safety, Contract Administration, and Executive Leadership to ensure consistent execution of company initiatives and achievement of regional business objectives. This position has full accountability for regional P&L performance, leadership development, operational consistency, customer satisfaction, and the successful execution of strategic growth initiatives throughout the East Coast. The Region Manager is responsible for executing Monarch's strategic initiatives while identifying opportunities for regional growth through market expansion, customer retention, operational excellence, and leadership development. This role partners with executive leadership to develop long-term business strategies, support acquisitions and branch expansions, and ensure consistent execution of company standards across all East Coast operations. Serving as a coach and mentor to Branch Managers and regional leaders, the Region Manager fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, safety, and exceptional customer service while ensuring alignment with Monarch's mission, values, and long-term business goals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Landscape Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial landscaping, facilities management, construction, or a related service industry will be considered. Experience Minimum of 8 years of progressive operational leadership experience within commercial landscaping, facilities management, construction, or a related service industry. Minimum of 5 years leading multiple branch locations, districts, or business units with full operational and financial accountability. Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar P&L responsibility, including revenue growth, EBITDA, labor management, and profitability. Experience leading geographically dispersed teams. Proven success developing high-performing leaders through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning. Experience supporting acquisitions, branch integrations, or geographic expansion initiatives preferred. Commercial landscape maintenance experience strongly preferred. Language Skills Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to present information effectively to executive leadership, employees, and clients. Mathematical Skills Advanced financial and analytical skills. Ability to analyze budgets, forecasts, financial statements, labor metrics, profitability, and operational KPIs. Strong understanding of revenue forecasting, cost analysis, labor efficiency, and financial reporting. Reasoning Ability Ability to analyze complex business challenges and develop strategic solutions. Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret financial reports, contracts, operational data, and governmental regulations. Ability to prioritize multiple strategic initiatives in a fast-paced environment. Certificates, Licenses & Registrations Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. State and federal licenses as required. Certified Landscape Professional (CLP), Certified Landscape Technician (CLT), or other industry certifications preferred. Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Executive-level leadership and communication skills. Proven ability to build, coach, mentor, and develop high-performing management teams. Demonstrated success leading organizational change and operational transformation. Strong strategic planning, business analytics, and financial management skills. Executive presence with the ability to influence leaders across all levels of the organization. Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills. Experience working with commercial property managers, HOAs, municipalities, healthcare, education, industrial, and corporate campus clients preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and business reporting systems. Experience utilizing ERP systems, CRM platforms, workforce management systems, and business intelligence tools. Strong understanding of operational metrics, budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, labor management, and financial analysis. Ability to travel frequently throughout the East Coast region. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Regional Leadership & Strategy Develop high-performing leaders through regular coaching, succession planning, performance management, and accountability, while fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Develop and execute a multi-year strategic growth plan for the East Coast region, identifying opportunities for expansion, operational improvements, and increased market share. Partner with executive leadership to evaluate acquisitions, new branch opportunities, and regional expansion initiatives. Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across all branches. Foster a culture where leaders own results, make timely decisions, solve problems proactively and hold their teams accountable for execution. Lead implementation of company initiatives, organizational changes, and operational improvements. Develop leadership pipelines by identifying high-potential employees, creating development plans, and supporting succession planning throughout the region. Financial & Business Performance Maintain full accountability for the regional profit and loss (P&L), including revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, labor, overhead, and profitability. Evaluate overhead structure to ensure branches achieve targeted gross margin-to-overhead ratios. Develop annual operating budgets, financial forecasts, and regional business plans. Drive operational and financial performance by utilizing KPIs, dashboards, and forecasting to proactively identify risks, improve EBITDA, gross margin, labor efficiency, revenue per labor hour, and customer retention. Review monthly financial statements, forecasts, and operational performance to identify risks and opportunities. Conduct and lead structured weekly business reviews with each Branch Manager, holding leaders accountable for sales pipeline, customer retention, labor productivity, overhead management, safety, accounts receivable, and branch action plans. Analyze financial and operational trends to develop strategic recommendations that improve profitability and operational performance. Drive regional revenue growth, customer retention, and overall financial success. Operational Excellence Establish and maintain consistent operational standards across all East Coast branches. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity, quality, efficiency, and profitability. Standardize operational excellence by implementing consistent processes, conducting operational audits, sharing best practices, and ensuring high-quality execution across all branches Conduct regular operational audits, branch reviews, quality inspections, and routine field visits. Monitor operational KPIs including labor productivity, gross margin, equipment utilization, quality, customer retention, production efficiency, and safety performance. Utilize dashboards, reporting tools, and business intelligence systems to support data-driven decision making. Ensure operational execution consistently delivers exceptional customer experiences and high-quality workmanship. Labor & Workforce Planning Monitor regional labor planning, staffing levels, workforce utilization, scheduling, and overtime to ensure branches operate within labor budgets. Review staffing justifications prior to approving management additions. Ensure organizational structure supports profitable growth while maintaining operational efficiency. Evaluate current and future staffing needs to support business growth. Optimize labor, overhead, and organizational structure to ensure branches operate efficiently, maximize profitability, and maintain appropriate staffing levels based on business demand. Partner with Human Resources to support recruiting, workforce planning, employee engagement, and retention initiatives. Ensure Branch Managers effectively manage productivity, staffing, and labor efficiency. Fleet, Asset & Resource Management Oversee regional asset management, including fleet, equipment, maintenance facilities, and operational resources. Partner with Fleet and Procurement to optimize equipment utilization, preventative maintenance programs, vendor performance, and capital investments. Review branch equipment needs and recommend capital expenditures that improve operational efficiency and return on investment. Ensure company assets are effectively maintained to support safe and efficient operations. Client Relationships & Business Development Own regional sales growth by partnering with Business Development to conduct pipeline reviews, improve close rates, increase ancillary services, and align operational capacity with projected growth Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic clients throughout the region. Support Branch Managers in resolving escalated customer concerns while identifying opportunities to strengthen long-term partnerships. Collaborate with Business Development leadership to maximize sales opportunities, contract renewals, and customer retention. Attend customer meetings and represent Monarch at industry conferences, trade associations, customer events, and community organizations to strengthen market presence and business relationships. Cross-Functional Leadership Foster strong collaboration between Operations, Sales, Human Resources, Finance, Fleet, Safety, Contract Administration, and Executive Leadership. Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and organizational performance. Ensure effective communication and alignment between branch leadership and executive leadership. Safety & Risk Management Champion Monarch's safety culture through visible leadership, accountability, proactive field engagement, and continuous improvement. Conduct field observations, review incidents, monitor corrective actions, and hold leaders accountable for maintaining safe work environments. Monitor regional safety metrics and implement action plans that reduce incidents and improve overall safety performance. Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Leadership & Performance Management Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and leadership development meetings with Branch Managers. Build a high-performing leadership team through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and professional development. Foster a culture of accountability, employee engagement, continuous learning, and operational excellence. Maintain accurate documentation regarding coaching, performance management, corrective action, and leadership development. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises Branch Managers and regional support personnel. Indirectly oversees approximately 600–800 employees across multiple branch locations throughout the East Coast. Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, organizational development, and leadership effectiveness across the region. Holds regional leadership accountable for achieving financial, operational, safety, and customer satisfaction objectives. Exercises significant independent judgment in operational, financial, personnel, customer, and strategic business decisions. Physical Demands Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout office environments, branch facilities, client sites, and outdoor job locations for extended periods. Frequent walking over uneven terrain, including landscaped areas, construction sites, irrigation systems, and maintenance properties. Ability to climb stairs and occasionally climb embankments or navigate slopes while conducting site inspections. Frequent use of computers, tablets, mobile devices, and standard office equipment. Ability to drive for extended periods while traveling between branches, client locations, and regional meetings. Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds, including presentation materials, equipment, or supplies. Visual acuity sufficient to inspect landscape quality, equipment, and safety conditions. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through virtual meeting platforms. Work Conditions Work is performed in a combination of office, branch, client, and outdoor environments. Frequent travel throughout the assigned region, including day and overnight travel, is required. Travel may represent 50–70% of the role, depending on business needs. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and direct sunlight. Occasional exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, noise, irrigation systems, fertilizers, pesticides, and operating landscape equipment while visiting job sites. May be required to visit active construction sites, maintenance operations, and fleet facilities where personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. Must be available to respond to urgent operational issues outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, or during emergency weather events when necessary. Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record. Position requires compliance with all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of required PPE during field visits.
