Job Summary The University of Texas at Dallas has an excellent job opportunity for individuals looking to join our team as a Learning Specialist II in the Naveen Jindal School of Management (JSOM). The Learning Specialist II provides advanced instructional support and program development in business communication, professional development, student success, and AI-enhanced learning. This role supports undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students through workshops, individual coaching, classroom integration, and cross-campus collaboration. The position reports to the Director of Professional Development and plays a key role in advancing student success by integrating communication training with career readiness, academic support, and emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence. Compensation and Employment Salary Range: $51,000, DOQ Pay Basis: Monthly Position Status: Regular full-time Location: Richardson Desired Start Date: 10/01/2026 Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Education and Experience Master's degree in English, Communication, or a related field. Experience working in higher education, particularly in student success, academic support, writing centers, graduate education, career services, or professional development programs. Experience supporting undergraduate and graduate students. Experience designing, delivering, and assessing workshops, training programs, curricula, and educational resources for diverse student populations. Experience coordinating programs, communications, or services across multiple stakeholders while managing competing priorities and deadlines. Experience with Canva, presentation software, social media platforms, and other tools used for student engagement, outreach, and program promotion. Experience supporting executive-level DBA students with dissertation writing, formatting, publication processes, and academic communication. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Demonstrated knowledge of professional communication principles, including business writing, presentation skills, networking, public speaking, LinkedIn branding, personal marketing, and career readiness strategies. Knowledge of assessment design in the areas of Second Language Acquisition and/or English as a Second Language, specifically for evaluating the written and spoken English language skills of graduate doctoral students. Knowledge of phonetics and phonology and the ability to evaluate spoken English to determine whether additional resources or support may be beneficial in preparing individuals to teach management courses in an English-language classroom. Familiarity with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini) and the ability to support the ethical and effective use of AI in academic and professional settings. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage student populations and collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Other Qualifications To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide general group and individual coaching to undergraduate and graduate students on business communication, professional development, student success resources, and using AI for academic and professional success. Provide individualized support to PhD and DBA students on dissertation formatting, research paper reviews, submission requirements, and publication standards. Provide coaching and assessments to PhD and DBA students on key professional communication skills, including speaking (networking, small talk, conferences, public speaking) and writing for public-facing academic materials (e.g., LinkedIn posts, presentations, personal websites) Additional Information Work Notice Work will be performed on-site and in person.
